In every destination, there is always a distinct flavor that you'll never forget. You just don't see places, but also taste their food.

Cebu is not only famous for its stunning beaches, beautiful landscapes and great people perfectly blended by the modernization, but also for food uniqueness; the lechon, or roast. There are actually three kinds of lechon: the lechon baboy (roasted pig), lechon manok (chicken) and the quite rare lechon baka (roasted cow). The lechon baka is relatively rare since, rather than the whole cow, the hind leg/s is the only part available.

For those who haven't tasted Cebu's lechon..you should never forget to taste it when you visit Cebu.

Our lechon in Cebu is the best! I can remember when someone from Manila always ask me the favor to airship Lechon baboy from here and it has to be covered by airwaybill. He said that our lechon really taste good and I believe him so. I'm a lechon lover!

Not in the cooking but in the pork per se. I mean, what does it eat? hahaha something like that. Pork in itself is dirty. That's what I think sometimes. hehehe

My uncle is a Cebuano and they had a restaurant in Paranaque where they served Cebu Lechon Baboy. And when they got home from the US they brought 2 Lechon Baboy here in Bulacan and really it was GOOD. Yummy.

But of course I wish I could go back to Cebu and eat Lechon there. Meet you there!:)

I heard that Lechon was not to miss when in Cebu. Unfortunately I don't eat pork, too. I was almost almost tempted...on the verge of having it just this time, but since she pissed me off I told her I won't try it anymore and we had lunch at Chika-an instead. Hey, Larsian bbq is a good alternative to non-pork eaters! I fell in love with the flavor...Yuuummm!

lechon baka is sold by the kilo, but it is usually sold as the leg part of the cow, because it's very expensive if it's the whole cow. hehe. :D

We can't really resist stopping by one of the Lechon stalls in Mactan on our way back home to Cebu City. These stalls are found if we use the old bridge route. So tempting because it's still hot and I like it hot.

haha!that's funny. For Filipinos its nothing unusual. But yes you were right, it could look traumatizing for those who are not used to seeing it.

Try Lydia's lechon; they sell by kilo. We frequent the Roces ave. branch in quezon city. If you choose to eat in, they have a restaurant where you can try other dishes aside from lechon.

Happy eating! =)

For me, lechon baka (beef/calf) is actually better than lechon baboy (pork). This is because it has a more intense flavor (it actually soaks up the basting juices better than the pork one) and is leaner than the pork version.

For a really good lechon baka experience, try ordering from Elars (not Elarz because there is actually an Elarz right beside it). Their lechon baka is very popular and for a good reason too. :) Elars is located in Quezon Avenue, QC.

I'm not sure in other branches but in Megamall, I just heard that when it's 1 hour before closing time (8pm weekdays 9pm Fri-Sun) prices are slashed up to 50%... so if you want lot's of lechon better come here during the said mall hours.

Where: Food Court
What: Lydias Lechon

We really love Lechon, despite the cholesterol it gives to our bodies. :D
I've tasted Lechon from Cebu and it's the best. It doesn't need sauce. Plus, Lechon in provinces are sold at a lower price as compared in Metro Manila.

I order lechon whenever there are special occasions. Before, it's hard to decide where to buy the best lechon with all the "lechoners" claiming theirs are the best. The Lechon Family in Manila achieves the Cebu style lechon. What's great is that after an hour, the skin remains crisp and the meat tastes good. Not wanting to compromise quality, I see to it that I'm there waiting for the lechon to be brought from the roasting pit; place it into the car and hurry home.

Cebu style lechon is still the basis for good tasting lechon especially the ribs...the best lechon ever.
