I have seen them react and saw it on fear factor (I don't remember which episode was it). There are some foreigners are afraid of Balut. Balut is fertilized duck or chicken egg with a nearly-developed embryo inside that is boiled. But to us Filipinos, we thought of it as a nice street food that is sold and eaten every evening. In my opinion, it is really tasty with a little salt compare to the live Monkey brains on the menu (Indonesia). There are also some Asian countries that sells Balut.

I have also seen that episode in Fear Factor (as well as Survivor) Personally, I haven't tried it.. it is something I would always like to do. It's not that I don't like it, because I actually have tried eating some portions of it and it tasted good. Plus, I also heard that it is nutritious.
I don't know if you guys watch Bizzare Foods on Discovery, he visited the Philippines and ate a Balut (funny how he pronounces it, another way to say it with a slang) he liked it. It's just the description of it in English what makes it sort of un-inviting to foreigners..

I was born and raised in the Philippines - but I fear balut. Just the sight of it makes me sick.

balut is simply cool. many will digress with this view and i respect that but it tastes good for me, just avoid looking at it while eating. mind over matter lads. i still remember we used to wait for the balut peddler every afternoon down our street to call out, and we were all set with our coins.....sigh. my favorite is the liquid and that yellow portion :D

I really think Balut is famous all over the Philippines. Foreigners most of the time reject eating this food. It's really exotic for people to eat such. But as far as I know and have experienced, Balut is a delicious exotic food which is sold most of the time at night at streets.
