The cold wind is gone. The summer breeze is here once again. Yes folks, summer is officially here, the season a lot of people in the Philippines are waiting for. The first in the list that will surely be happy now that summer is on are the students.
For students, especially those in the primary and the secondary level, summer means vacation. It is the time when all their thoughts of white sand beaches, surfing or snorkeling activities all school-year round come to life. Ah! Summer it is. My favorite part of the year.
Even though school time is not yet over and we still need to wait for a little more than a month or so, we (read: friends and family) already have plans for the summer. The usual plan every summer is an island getaway where we can dip ourselves into those clear water and cover our bodies with white sand. Possible locations are Batangas, Zambales, Aurora and if budget is enough, we can even try visiting Ilocos Norte, Palawan, Cebu, Bohol or perhaps Surigao! Wee!
Another option for the summer vacation is a trip to the nation's Summer Capital, Baguio City. Although Baguio is already a boring place for me (it has always been a hype every summer, so overrated), it still is oncluded in the options. Don't get me wrong. I like Baguio and it's always been a great place for summer's humid air because of its mountainous position and cool breeze, but being in Baguio in that time of the year is far from the word "ENJOY"! You can't even ride a horse or take a boat ride on the man-made lake because gazillion of people are waiting in line!
Another option is whale hunting in Donsol, Sorsogon! The whale sharks are the coolest thing on earth! I wanna see one in its actual habitat! But I think that's hardly possible because I will need to generate a lot of moola just to be able to dive with the biggest fish in the world!
