Taba ng talangka (crab roe or “fat” from small shore crabs) is definately a taste of “heaven” or wicked cholesterol “hell,” depending on your perception. it is extracted from the small crab by submerging them in a boiling water after wards you will squeeze it and put it in a bottle.

For your information: it takes 100 or more small crab to fill 1 bottle of crab roe:)

I so love taba ng talangka!

I eat it with rice and with a squeeze of calamansi. I actually don't care if I will die of high blood after eating it. Just thinking of its red, juicy, creamy taste, well it's making me hungry right now.

I think the best place to get really good taba ng talangka is Bataan as Bataan also has the plumpest crabs I've ever seen.

Is it restricted to be extracted from small crabs alone? I feel sorry for it.. O don't eat it since I'm scared of the cholesterol outcome. I might be addicted to it so I'd rather not begin!:D

Love that too! But yes its high in cholesterol.

I think it is what they mix with rice to make 'crab rice'. Oh so yummy. Try Josephine's when you get to Tagaytay. :)

My dad is very much addicted to this, so am I. I really love the this part of the crab. Well, over eating will rise up your blood pressure of course. Too much of everything is bad you know ^_^

Yeah, I've seen a jar once in the on of Baguio's markets. I asked my mom to buy one but she refused telling me that it would not be good for her and my dad's health. One jar would cost 1000 php? :) I'll try to buy one for myself.

Just make sure that when you eat this, complement it with green leafy vegetables to offset the sin!

I tried it once, eating a lot. A few minutes later, my breathing became heavy and as if there's a lump on my chest. Gosh, that 's what I got from eating too much crab fat.
