One favorite pasalubong and comfort food of my family is Ice Cream.

No one would say no or would pass whenever Ice cream is around.

We usually buy those in the groceries but I'm sure they would like to try other types available in the local market.

Any suggestions? Please also include the location where it could be purchased and the budget. Thank you in advance.:)

Have you tried Selecta's (or was it Magnolia? Nestle? I'm confused) new product? Sorbetes? My dad bought one and it kinda feels like the dirty ice cream (Well Sorbetes is the local name for the dirty ice cream) It has a different kind of texture once the ice cream is in your mouth. But it tastes alot better than the dirty ice cream of course.

I'm glad that other people in this thread also like the Double Dutch flavor. My family often tease me because they know that when It's my turn to buy, that would be one of the flavors. Hehe. My favorite is Magnolias'

Everytime we visit our relatives in Bulacan, the mamang sorbetero in the village goes home to his family sweat less. Why? He doesn't have to go too far to sell his ice cream because we finish half of it.haha!

I am a Hagen Dazs addict but since we want to talk proudly Philippine-made ice cream, my bet right now is Fruits in Ice Cream (FIC).

I got introduced to FIC when I was in college in UP Diliman. One scoop used to cost like P15 ($.30) and the great flavors were vanilla, strawberry, and the awesome green tea ice cream.

Now, FIC is available in malls at P45 a scoop ($.90) and though my fave flavors haven't changed, I added a new one which is cranberry.

Go to the nearest mall and enjoy!

Another yummy set of ice cream selections comes from Selecta. It's the one wherein they asked three renowned Filipino chefs to concoct an ice cream for them. My favorite is the Berry Strawberry (almost tastes like Hagen Dazs or even better) though I have to try the other two i.e. the Hazelnut Brownie and the Chocolate Truffles.

Agree agree! Kudos to Selecta for thinking about this kind of line. :) Although I must say, the "3 in 1 plus 1" ice cream ad is quite catchy.

There's the "Dan Eric's Ice Cream" Brand that I would recommend. It's cheap but it's really good. you can buy their ice cream in cup sizes for just 10 pesos and they have ice buko popsicles in different flavors too, priced at 5 pesos. A day doesn't end without me eating one of their ice cream.

Arce Dairy still holds it for me. Nothing beats the original Selecta.

But for cheap treats, the cheese sorbetes hits the spot all the time!

I also like Selecta because it is not that sweet. I prefer to really have the taste of the flavor than the sweetness of the ice cream.

if you are looking for a unique ice cream treat, try Penny Brown at Robinson's Galeria and Glorietta Malls. It has all kinds of yummy ice creams to be sandwiched by two cookies (type and flavor of the cookie is your choice). If you are diabetic, they have non sugar cookies and ice creams as well!

this ice cream costs 175 pesos depending on the type of the cookie/s you want with your ice creams!

Sebastian's Ice Cream is excellent. They have branches at Alabang Town Center and the Podium. It is part of the dessert menu at reputable establishments such as Kai, Olio (Cebu), Yaku, and Shepherd's Staff at the SM Mall of Asia. The Dublin Fudge is made of chocolate fudge and Bailey's Irish cream ice cream for those who love Bailey's.
