When I was kid, me and my cousins looked forward to merienda time.
As an adult, I never really lost that excitement.
As a kid Merienda would mean lugaw and tokwa, gulaman, mais, mami, bananacue, puto, kutsinta, tokneneng, fishballs, squidballs, halo-halo atbp.
I miss those days. Now merienda means burger and fries, soft drink, chocolates and sandwich. Occasionally, I get my hands on some bananacue, tokneneng, fishballs and squidballs. But I surely like to learn how to cook the rest so my future kids will experience having healthier merienda time, just like what I had as a kid.
What usual Merienda for you?

Puto is one of the favorite merienda of all time. We also have Kakanin, biko, kutsinta, suman, and many other Filipino foods to eat.
One of my favorite would be binatog, palitaw, and kutsinta!

When I traveled to Tacloban City my bus stopped at Legaspi City. Then I bought this Sinapot. Then I continued my trip to Allen Northern Samar and I bought this kinaringking, kamote-q. Kinaringking is waray language. From that time on I like Kinaringking and my neighbor, who is also from Samar, is preparing it often for us :)

Our meryenda during our annual summer vacation would either be dirty ice cream on a bun or halo-halo.

For merienda, I like "Dinuguan with Puto". Laguna Cafe at the Ayala Terrace Gardens serves this as Merienda. They also have "Puto Bibingka with shredded fresh coconut & Itlog Maalat" as toppings which goes well with native chocolate. As I write this, that reminds me that I need to go to the ayala mall to buy something and perhaps I will drop by Laguna Cafe to order for take home this Puto Bibingka. Hhhhmmm, I can't wait.

there is a treat made of casava..i forgot the name. it looks like a tortilla, its round and crunchy and caramelized sugar is drizzled on top of it to give it that sweet taste (but its not too sweet thoug, which is nice) . can anyone fit this description with a name?

I actually don't know if that's the real spelling of peachy-peachy but the peachy-peachy of Arny and Dading's and Amber's are really good!
Best taken with pansit for merienda or alone if you must.

^The best I've tasted so far is the one sold by our neighbor, bought from our local market. Sorry can't recommend a particular brand. But I suggest you buy the freshly baked ones, put them in the ref and then eat them later.:)

Goldilock's puto and dinuguan are also good for merienda. The sauce of the dinuguan is so good it's best to have a puto on standby just to scrape the sauce clean.
Palitaw. Banana cue. Karyoka. Biko.
Yum. I love these Filipino foods. They make me feel hungry.
Oh! And I suggest when eating pichi pichi, use cheese instead of coconut. They're really delicious! :)
